I can’t believe we’re under two weeks away from moving! I am both excited and anxious. I’ve been spending a great deal of time going out with the friends I made here in warm and sunny Singapore before I move to a much colder climate. My tropical body needs getting used to. Haha!
We’re planning for some bonding time with our families in the next few weeks as we are likely not to spend the coming holidays with them.
Just a quick (and very random) self-realization from yesterday. Singapore has humbled me big time. When I went here, it did not matter where everyone came from or what our undergraduates were or whether we were top of our class or scholars in the past. None of it mattered. Because here, we are on our own, doing what we can to survive in the wilderness and jungle that is Singapore’s workforce. Every day, we go home, cook our own meals, do our own laundry, clean our own little dwellings. We wake up and face each day head on. (Mostly) Without our families or our closest friends to fall back on. To each his own thing. Survival of the fittest. And this place has become a great equalizer.
