You see, we could not afford to have the whole entourage carry custom-made bouquets. So I haggled with myself (I’m crazy like that) and said, fine. Non-floral for me and our mothers and then all floral for the entourage.
Of course, I also wanted our church styled. As I mentioned before, St. Ignatius is quite simple. All white interior. Glass doors. Nothing grand about it, no big wooden doors to usher me in once I walk down the aisle. So I had to get someone to style the church for me. This prompted my search for THE florist.
I won’t name names but I have received quotations for as low as 10K (church only) to as overwhelming as 190K (reception styling only)! WTF! I know this number is “just okay” for well-to-do families but in all honesty, even if I had that money to spare, I would not put it on just flowers. I cannot take those with me forever! Nor would I have use to them after a week or two!
I have also experienced haggling with a known event stylist and was replied with “I am sorry we cannot work with your budget. Happy preps!” Hahaha! That was my first rejection as a customer. Eh di ako na ang barat.I don’t care.
Going back, one of the suppliers I first came across was Serge. I called him in June and had a nice chat about flowers (back when I was thinking of getting floral bouquets). He told me my favorite flower were actually in season for our wedding. He got me very excited. PINK. PEONIES. I was ready to cry. (I am such a drama queen.)
Later on, I was ready to let go of Serge when I decided to pursure non floral bouquets. One day, while browsing Facebook, I saw this church set up (I got these photos from Kiss the Girls FB page during one of their weddings):
I swooned. I sighed. I want this. This is the “drama” I needed for my all-white, simple church. (Side note: I am not very fond of the white swags though. It looks a little dated but it’s just fine. I may have to ask Serge to do something about that if ever.)
I contacted Serge again and confirmed it really was him. From then, we talked about the church setup. The flowers for the entourage and the particular arrangement I liked for the flower girls (hehe).
He sent me his quotation and it was pretty reasonable for the work he will do. He was very flexible with his rates too.
I am excited to meet him at the end of the week when he comes to Singapore for a short holiday.
